Business Development Manager

Steve is one of the most experienced members of the Independent Paint Supplies team, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge gained from many years in the automotive refinishing industry. Having worked for major names such as Bodyshop Services and PPG Brown Brothers, Steve joined IPS at the end of 2019, becoming a key figure in the company’s early expansion plans.

From the moment he came on board, Steve was set an ambitious goal — to help IPS reach the level of growth needed to open a new branch in Cardiff. Through his determination, professionalism, and long-standing customer relationships, he not only met that challenge but helped lay the foundations for what is now a thriving branch. For two years, Steve single-handedly repped the Cardiff and Newport area, with deliveries coming daily from Swansea, proving his incredible commitment to both IPS and his customers.

Now based at our Cardiff branch, Steve continues to be a cornerstone of the business, known for his loyal customer base, first-class service, and his dedication to ensuring that IPS’s number-one ethos — the customer always comes first — is upheld in everything he does.

Away from work, Steve is a proud Cardiff City and Welsh Rugby fan, and a keen golfer when time allows. While he might not be the tallest member of the team, there’s no question that he’s a giant presence within IPS — both in experience and in impact.

Do you have a nickname (and how did you get it)? Nifty North- I used to be a fast winger (Not anymore!)
What's your proudest moment (inside or outside of work)? The opening of Cardiff Branch. Big achievement for me through growth in my area
Tell us an interesting fact about you that nobody would guess! I was a mobile DJ for 30 years, and my claim to fame was that I DJ'd for Liverpool Football Club after the 1st FA Cup Final in Cardiff!
If you could swap jobs with anyone in IPS for a day, who would it be and why? Joe- working from home sounds good to me (Sorry Joe I'm getting sacked in the morning!)
What's one tool, product or piece of kit you couldn't live without? Can I say the wife? Nothing would get done at home without her, I'm useless with tools!
