HMG Mordant T Wash is a specialist etching and pre-treatment solution for galvanised steel and Zintec, designed to chemically prepare new galvanised surfaces before the application of a suitable paint system.

Manufactured to a formulation originally developed by the British Rail Board, Mordant T Wash reacts with galvanised surfaces to create a more suitable foundation for subsequent primers and coatings. During the reaction, the treated surface turns black, providing a clear visual indication that the treatment has taken place.

Fresh galvanised steel can be difficult to paint successfully without the correct preparation. HMG Mordant T Wash provides a straightforward method of conditioning the surface before applying an appropriate HMG Etch Primer and, where required, an additional primer, helping to create a reliable foundation for the complete coating system.
